It's a bit awkward looking. I say "not".

Wow a container that actually makes me NOT want to drink wine! Fellow winos look sharp - this could be what we have been missing!

Loads of blood filled test tubes, and you are supposed to wash it how?

I will go along with hot, but not if you have to clean it.

Yes - blood / arteries / veins. Not in association with something I will drink (maybe for a Halloween party?).

But the main point for me voting "not" wasn't what it looked like, it was the complete lack of function. That's not a decanter. As the poster above said, it doesn't decant. A decanter is supposed to allow INCREASED air flow to the wine by maximizing the surface area exposed to air.

This was on the NY site a week or so ago and I thought it looked like a huge creepy spider but most people loved it. I think it's even creepier filled with red liquid, it does look as if it's been drinking someone's blood.

It reminds me of the anatomy coloring book I had as a kid-- I know it's odd, but both my folks work in the medical field-- like the arteries winding around the heart. Now, if this was made to actually look like something, as opposed to its abstract design, I might actually like it.

Forget "hot" or "not" for a moment, this thing does not appear to be really functional. The function of a decanter is to aerate your libation of choice, thereby making it taste better. With virtually no surface area, my guess is this performs pretty poorly compared to others. Oh, and it also looks like bloody deer antlers.... ewwwwww.

Forget aerating (everyone in NY claimed it did it better)... that thing is two feet tall. How do you pour from it without first putting police do-not-cross tape around your dining table, lest you put a guest's eye out?

Oops, it must have been on AT:NY when I was computer-free in Mexico. Oh well...

The whole idea of decanting wine is to give it 'breathing room". This just will not work for that purpose.

My criteria for what is hot or not comes down to 3 things:
1. Is it useful/functional?
2. Is it simple?
3. Is it beautiful?
The shape (whether one likes it or not) is not conducive to usefulness and function as a decanter, and it's definitely not simple. So it already fails my first two criteria. Plus it's 2000 Euros. imo Not Hot.

doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of a decanter? Maybe a vase instead....

I like it as art, not as a drink pouring/aerating device. It appeals to my sciencegeekiness. I'm all about the cool glassware. If I tried to use it as a functional device, I'd break it immediately.

It reminds me of inverted antlers.... I think it's kinda cute, but it's definitely not the elegant item of practical beauty.... It can't be filled with any drinkable liquid since it would be impossible to clean.... so what's the point?

I think as a kind of vase that you root things in it might be kidn of wonderful, because the roots might grow in those various directions.

I don't even like decanters that are functional..... perhaps as a centerpiece for a Halloween party or a blood donation drive.
