is it just me, or is everyone just inclined to vote negative on the Hot or Not posts?

I like that it can be modified for the occasion, so I did vote hot meaning warm. It's not an unattractive fixture... some lamps are already metal and take magnets, but this is made of magnet? I think the examples shown make it look like crap, makes it look like you are keeping your receipts and reminders on a LAMP not on say, a board! but then there were those crazy lamps with the base wrapped in cork, not to mention magnets shaped like pushpins, and pushpins made of cement. Maybe an obsession with landing strip paraphernalia and fixations on items that can solve the pesky decisions and sacrifices that plague us when something can't perform double-duty, or is not uncommon, or is so common, nobody noticed they went away until someone sees one for the first time.
The second with the flatware is altogether bizarre but the lamp won't make you do that to it if you don't want to.

It makes me think of something the goth kids working at Hot Topic would want.

This would be really interesting with magnetic poetry all the way around it!

don't think I'd want to be sitting under those knives...

Yes, nothing sharp, but otherwise, a fun idea.
I could see sticking funny notes or bios up there for dinner parties. "Ask Jane about her Urkel obsession".

Cool concept, but I agree that sitting under knives doesn't sound relaxing. The Sword of Damocles comes to mind.
