Rosa says she's become good friends with Craig while decorating her new home. She writes, We have owned our house for about a year now, and it has been so much fun. Our house was built in the 1940's, so it has all the charm, and all the negatives of an old house ...

...Charm being original hardwood floors, original glass knobs, large yard, established fruit trees...cons being only one SMALL bathroom, no insulation, old plumbing.

As new homeowners, we are on a limited budget as far as home furnishings go, so CRAIG, as in craigslist has become my best friend!! Almost everything in our home furniture wise has come from craigslist/usedcanada/our family or thriftstores.....People are always so amazed how we can make such a nice home from USED things....but it's the only way I would go! I hope you enjoy my home!

Thanks, Rosa!

Is it possible to covet a fence? That baby would look so good on my house.

Sounds just like my house in upstate NY - old house, huge yard, original hardwood floors and glass doorknobs, one bathroom, no insulation, and almost everything furnished second-hand (haven't found much with Craig yet, but Freecycle has been a very close friend).

I was looking for fence ideas, and I think I've found mine!

I have been a long time AT reader but never a commenter. Until now! I am in Nanaimo and it warms the cockles of my heart to see the mid island represented, esp so stylishly. I /love/ the fence and the green in your house :)
Do you shop anywhere local for house-y things?

Hi to you in Nanaimo!! thanks for the nice comments.....as far as shopping local for hous-y things....I do and I don't...I have purchased a lot of my large-ish items on Craigslist and UsedNanaimo; used items from people near by... and I love a good thriftstore! other than that I frequent Ikea (in Vancouver) and the usuals like the Bay/Winners etc.
It was fun to feature bits of my home on here, and I always enjoy the comments :)
