i'm with 2lastnames, my partner would never allow such feminine space/colors in our shared abode. i like the compromised style we have crafted, but some day i'll have a little studio/retreat space that is all ruffly, frothy, floral and pink.

it drives me craaaazy when prints are improperly framed

She's just another one who sells that print now. It makes me wish I hadn't bought it. Although I do like supporting the little British bookstore that first decided to reprint it instead of one of the many people in the U.S. who have decided to reprint it in wacky colors.

I'm looking forward to seeing this in the book! Meanwhile, I REALLY love the blossoms in that first pic.

well she's one of the first (if not THE first) to reprint the "keep calm and carry on" poster on this side of the Atlantic, and I think the first to print it in colors other than red.
just because you see it all over AT, doesn't mean everybody has one.

Maybe just most of the hip folks have it and they're all here.

I don't understand people who don't want things in their homes that other people own. Do you like it? If yes, then keep it. If no, then get rid of it. Do you only read books no one else likes, only listen to bands no one else has heard of? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

On the topic at hand, her apartment always looks so nice. She really mixes pieces so well.

yep, i am one of the people who have printed these in 'wacky' colors, if that's what you want to call them. ;) it seems it's just a saying that still resonates with people...perhaps it's our times, the war, the stress we feel to do it all. anyway, yes, it is me. and, sorry it's not framed properly for you - this is just a 'quickie' frame job and i have been too busy to get it done right.

i have to say, it kind of always surprises me how critical y'all get on this site. it happens over and over and it really does bum me out. leslie and the rest of writers work hard to present content that you will enjoy, and it seems to me that y'all just pick away at the smallest of issues. it takes a lot of the joy out sharing, i can tell you that from personal experience, but i see it often enough that i just had to comment as i am sure it could inhibit others from sharing their homes. it's a shame, really.

well said sfgirlbybay... you are so generous to share your beautiful home with the (AT) world ... and its not nice when people are critical for no constructive reason ... maybe the not nice comments should have to be accompanied with pics of their home (obviously) perfect homes...

i have my very own keep calm poster over here in melbourne, all the way from you in sf ... i don't care how many people have it... I LOVE mine...

all those people with gorgeous funky homes, please dont stop letting AT and all us gawkers in to have a sneaky peek... and the nasty pasties, like they say 'if you can't play nice, get out of the sandbox'

hey i'm not hating, your home is lovely. its just something that's irksome for me. if you take out the matting, the print would resonate wonderfully. peace.

I have the poster too (from Barter) I'm very happy with it and its staying...

I remember Victoria's apartment from before and simply love what she has done to refesh the entire space. Love the color palette and the new furniture she has!

I think this home is full of personality. It is fun and has a lot of conversational pieces. The chalkboard is a piece you don't normally see in a home but really adds to the feel of the home.

I do love the Keep Calm poster, but I really don't like that people are ripping off the little bookstore that found it and reprinted it. The design might not be in copyright any more, but taking customers away from a small bookstore is just stupendously bad karma.

I dont understand why some people on here gotta knock any little thing, the apt is beautiful, why make a negative comment about a print??? It doesnt take anything away from the beauty of the apt & what a great job she has done.

This is a stunning apartment--and the light is beautiful, too.

I think the problem people have with the "KC&CO" poster is that when they see a gorgeous, imaginative, and well-executed home, it's the originality that strikes and inspires them. Since the poster is so common now, it takes away from that sense of originality. To me it's like the "hang in there" poster of a kitten clinging to a branch that some of us had in our childhood bedrooms (and really, the message isn't that different!). Or Farrah Fawcett in the red bathing suit for a generation of young men...

I know I'm dating myself here, but I am just trying to throw out a theory about why people get so up in arms about that poster. And it's not just the poster. People have the same reaction to some of the "iconic" mid-century modern furniture that appears in many house tours on AT--the Panton chairs, tulip tables, George Nelson bubble lamps and so on I think readers view these items as "cop-outs" or cheating along the quest to creating a really cool, unique space.

I'm almost tempted to put a "Keep Calm" poster in every room in our apartment and then post the photos... just to watch the AT crowd freak out. And the slightly manic effect it would produce would be so much fun. Hmmm... I think I might do a row of three in our long hallway... we have the space!

I've had a "real" one from Barter Books for ages... but I think Victoria's are honestly a bit better since they come in other colors have the screenprinted thing going.

It's really NOT very unique when people are all obsessed with being unique.

I like the KC&CO posters and I don't see the point in getting annoyed over lots of people having it. IMHO it's interesting to see where these posters are displayed, like in Victoria's pic she has them by her shoes, and I for one sometimes get into a fluster over not having (or finding) the perfect pair of shoes to go with an outfit.

So maybe now I will buy a poster from Victoria and put it by by my shoes, or my overflowing perfume trays!;)

I am completely out of touch-whats the story behind the poster and where can I get one. I'd hate to be the only person in america w/o one. I love the place by the way-completely my style.
