2-23-housetourlogo.jpgAnna and Victor's colorful, light-filled home debuted on AT via their entry in the 2006 Fall Colors Contest. We could only see two curiosity-piquing pictures of their home at that time, and since then they've rearranged and added some great pieces to the mix. This time, we're lucky enough to have a full house tour to share with you -- and best of all, we get to see that their love of color and light extends beyond the living room!

My/our Style: I think our style is very colorful and eclectic. I never worry if things "go", if we love something we find a place for it in our home.

The Inspiration for my home: I get a lot of inspiration from design blogs, Design*Sponge is my favorite, and magazines like Domino. I also get so many ideas from all of our talented and amazing friends who have beautiful homes and my parents both have amazing style in the spaces they create.

Favorite element: My favorite element in our home is the windows. We have so much light all year long, even when it is rainy and gray all winter in Portland. I love being up high and looking out onto the trees and our neighborhood. I also love our credenza. It was the first major piece of furniture I have ever bought (a really great Craigslist deal!) and I really love it. It inspires me.

Biggest challenge in designing my home: I think our biggest challenge has been making a small space fit all of our needs and come together without looking or feeling crowded. Also, we have a very busy two year old, so it is a challenge keeping things tidy and organized!

What friends say about my home: I hope friends think our house is fun and cozy!

Biggest embarrassment in my home: Our basement! We still have not fully unpacked from out move here from Chicago almost two years ago.

Proudest DIY: All of the art in our home is made by my husband Victor, myself, our family or our friends. It is such a blessing to have so many talented people in our life who make beautiful things. And I am proud of the felt and fabric banner I made my daughter for her second birthday!

Biggest indulgence with respect to my home: No matter how much money we have I always have to have fresh flowers. And our new couch was a pretty big indulgence.

Best advice given or received: Spend five minutes cleaning everyday and it will never get out of control, and my mom always gives really great practical advice about what does and does not show dirt, i.e. NO BLACK STOVE TOPS, and if you have children or animals go for a lighter colored couch...oops, ours is chocolate.

Dream source for stuff: Again- anything on Design*Sponge makes me swoon, and most recently I have been loving everything at a great vintage store here in Portland called Hawthorne Vintage -- they have the most amazing mid- century furniture. I am so in love with all of the fabric and pillows from Hable Construction, DWR is amazing for big ticket items, and I have soft spot of all the color and pattern they offer at Anthropologie.

Such a beautiful, cozy space! It makes me so homesick for the northwest. I love all your art, and the colors are gorgeous!

Lovely space...thank you for sharing it. :)

I have the exact same coffee table in my living room in its unpainted state. It was a street find and the finish is not so hot, and I've been thinking about painting it white or gray rather than restaining/clearcoating it. Seeing your painted version is pushing me further in that direction -- it looks great.

This house is just lovely. Warm and interesting and relaxing at the same time. A question: because its a rental, did it come with the window treatments? The windows are fabulous, but I wonder if the boxy valence is the way to go? I am seeing bamboo shades, or very sheer curtains.

WONderful...EXCEPT for the eighties-ified rattan chair with the Florida chintz... It looks like it's right off the set of the Golden Girls...! It's soooo out of place in your sleek-yet-warm classic modern....

Your family and your apartment are both just too cute for words.

Ohhh, what is the colour of your living room! I need to know!
(Um, and soon, as I'm going out to buy paint in less than 18 hours....) Ack!

I like the warm but open feeling this place coveys! It kind of proves that things like record albums, books and carefully placed vases and art can all live in harmony with out looking cluttered. Visually the art allows your eye to flow across the room. Nice flow! Yeah love Craigslist!!

Love the credenza... but the picture on it (leaning against the wall)... doesn't it go "whapp" and fall flat every few days with a child in the house? ;)

I'm in love with the credenza!! As the mom of a toddler, I'm impressed with the amount of (lack of) clutter and toys. Sigh.

I love your space! I have to agree about the rattan chair- it is a little Bea Arthur (not that there's anything wrong with ole' Bea).

But I love how it looks like a space that both children and adults can fun comfort and inspiration in. Lovely!

I love the chairs, I think they blend in well. I also am impressed with the lack of clutter with a toddler around. Also your family is WAY too cute, one of you needs a missing front tooth or something... thanks for showing us your place!

What a wonderful, warm home that looks real and lived-in. It's also refreshing to see something so pulled-together on a realistic budget.

Could you share where you got the bed quilt? Really lovely and bright!

Our bedroom quilt is from Anthropologie, and as for the comments about our rattan chair, it was my great grandmother's chair and I am looking for the perfect fabric to recover it...any suggestions?
I am in LOVE with Hable Construction's fabric "beaded stripe" but at $85 a yard I can only worship it from afar.

Name one person who doesn't like the Golden Girls? Whatever, Republican. That chair is amazing! It makes me want to put on my caftan and dance around with those amazing stacked-sphere glass candlesticks. Your apartment is amazing!!!!
