One of the joys of simple Ikea products is that they lend themselves so well to the creative process. Case in point: billy bookcases. We've shown you all sorts of ways to make them your own, and here's another simple project to try. Follow this tutorial for attaching fabric to the back of your bookcase with ease...
Faith outlines the step by step process clearly and concisely on her blog, The Nearest Future. We are most appreciative of the accompanying slideshow (just click on the lead photo), too, for all us visual learners. Has anyone else out there tried this project? Any tips different from Faith's?

Hi, Faith here. Thanks for featuring my project! You can use this direct link to the slideshow: http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/ii260/nearestfuture/projects/decorating/?action=view¤t=51647b55.pbw
If you're planning on doing this project the main tip I have is to pick a lightweight fabric. On the Billy bookcases the slot for the cardboard to slide into is pretty tight and so using a thicker fabric (as I did) can make things more difficult.

I attached fabric to my expedit bookcase, and it looks awesome - everyone complements me on it. I stretched good cotton fabric using a lot of thumb tacks. A lot of work, but really worth it!
