Do you have an intentional space in your home dedicated to reflection and renewal? With the interesting observation that many people use the fridge door to display the mementoes and pictures that call out to our hearts, The Oregonian turns to Portland-based author and designer Jagatjoti Singh Khalsa for advice on how to create what he calls a "restorative space."

Khalsa advises us to start with a central object we hold dear, that reminds us of truth, beauty or hope. Then he tells us to unearth the treasures we've packed away, finally choosing a place to display it all.
Says Khalsa, "I try to live in one place, consciously and in the present. But for many people, a house winds up being a pit stop for the rest of life.
