Pegboards have long ruled the utility closet but if you're fortunate enough to have a home office, they can help make the most of it by keeping important tools, supplies, and collections organized and at hand -- and they're easily re-organized as your needs evolve.
DIY, inspiration and more examples after the jump!

I adore pegboards! We actually made a pegboard folding screen to hide the water heater in our garage + store/organize random stuff. It is one of my favorite things in our entire house!
i rmember seeing an old martha stewart article that highlighted pegboard for great domestic uses -- bathrooms, kitchns, laundries. this would be really great in a closet/dressing area, too, for hanging jewellery, belts and other accessories. thanks -- i'm newly inspired!
The DIY is for sheetrock walls. What modifications are necessary for those of us with plaster and lath walls? I'm dying to do this in my new workroom.
WOW, that first picture is the best-looking installation of peg board I've ever seen! I appreciate it's practicality, but never have been a fan for myself, until I saw this...
Even after Fancy kitchen cabinets and equipment became popular, Julia Child hung all her panns and tools on pegboard. I really like knowing that. After she died, the whole kitchen was moved and reassembled in a museum in Napa, CA.
Oops... here is a photo of Julia's set-up:

I lived in an apartment once with absolutely no cabinet or drawer space. I spray painted a big piece of peg board bright yellow and hung everything on it. It looked fantastic and was extremely functional.
Where do you buy the pegboard?
I love pegboard! It's easy to paint or dress up. You can use wallpaper or even wrapping paper (use decoupage glue to adhere it). Just use a large nail or screwdriver to punch holes in the paper where you need them and, voila, functional art.
talldave, I've found pegboard at local hardware stores and Home Depot.
I found some really neat metal pegboard for sale. The are located at www.yourgarageguy.com and seem to be marketed to garage organization. I certainly beleive that these pegboards would work well organizing any small space. The best thing is they are ready to install right our of the package. No need to build furring strips or cut anything. Just a screwdriver. They even come in different colors. What a time saver!!
