We love instant gratification. So this quick and easy project is right up our alley. It's one of many that you can find in Danny Seo's book, Simply Green Parties.
To make the trivet, all you need are corks, an adjustable metal pipe clamp and a screwdriver. Here's what you do:
Gather up your corks (real or synthetic), and arrange them inside the clamp. The corks should be densely packed together, so there aren't any loose corks falling out later. With the screwdriver, tighten the clamp around the corks.
That's it! And now you've got another excuse to open a bottle of wine tonight.
(Psst: If you want to watch Seo putting one together, check out the instructional YouTube video.)
Except that the clamp is really ugly.
Why not glue the corks with 2-part epoxy, using the clamp to merely hold them all together till the glue dries?

i'm with boomer on this. the clamp is pretty hideous. using it as a temporary clamp while the glue dries is the way to go.
