How To: Make a Love Garland

2-10-09 garland diy 1.jpgThis seems like a fitting project for the upcoming holiday weekend. Originally intended for a wedding (the theme being "Sweet Love"), this garland can be customized to express any sentiment you'd like...

2-10-09 garland diy.jpg...be it for a party, a loved one, or just a little extra decoration around the house (maybe try "Home Sweet Home"). The project was created by Whitney Deal of Darling Dexter for Style Me Pretty. Enjoy!

It is really cute, but waaaaay too much work. If you could buy the paper pre-punched, maybe.

I agree, Kate. Most of the Valentine's ideas I'm seeing are sweet, and yet if I'm going to put in the amount of work required, I want the item/arrangement to outlast a weekend. I did buckle to this, however:

Just got a giant heart hole-punch from a scrapbooking supply store, so the real work is in the stringing (and no way would I perforate my ceiling with all those tacks - I strung them through a large piece of tagboard, and will secure that to the ceiling). Used cuter paper, too, and dental floss for nearly invisible suspension.

Thanks for the reminder! I've been meaning to get a doilie punch from the Martha Stewart Craft Line. (being kind of serious-this gave me a good idea for V-Day cards!)
