Inspiration: Designer Malene Birger's Home
Skona Hem

The runway looks of Danish designer Malene Birger are effortlessly chic with a great balance of masculine and feminine influences. Her home, primarily done in hues of black, white and brown, reflects that same aesthetic. While it's not full of color, it's full of personality and warmth.

Brimming with patterns and portraits and texture, the style of Malene's home is one that I would love to emulate.

I like how she duplicated the look of the floating wall art shelf in the office and the bedroom, although to me, the shelves in the bedroom seem a bit low ... I'd be afraid of bumping my head.

I love all the texture. And the workspace!

I love the general look of this but its too tight.

I would feel claustrophobic there, especially the living room. Why is every piece of furniture jammed onto that tiny carpet when she obviously has a very nice, open space to work with?

She fills every possible space with stuff. :(

Good lord, way toooo much stuff. Not every surface needs an object(s).

She has some nice ideas but she's a bit off in some areas. For instance, do those lovely black leather and chrome chairs really need 2 throw pillows each?! The sofa also looks like it may have lovely back cushions, but it's totally smothered in throw pillows too. I also agree that the rug is too narrow for the space.

I totally agree about the living room arrangement! Use a larger area rug!

I like the overall look, but I can't imagine sitting on that couch with a light aimed at the back of my head.

I like this a lot, a good balance of cozy clutter and soothing clean lines. Scandinavia meets French Bohemian.

Like: The coherent, restricted colour scheme.
Like: The use of 2 - 2 lamps, 2 vases, 2 trash cans...
Like: The art display in #2.
Dislike: The art display in #5 (too symmetric).
Dislike: The chandelier.
Puzzled: as to why she has a bag of antlers standing around?

Are those actually antlers in a carry bag? The mind boggles.

I do love the Moroccan wedding blanket (am I right about that?) thrown over the ottoman in the living room.

you people do realize that "stagers" come in and set these vingettes to be photographed. This is why home staging is so beyond me sometimes. It's people like AT readers who criticize everything and the stager thinks it's f-ing brilliant. I do agree with you all, but don't look into it too much, save your time for something else...

"Staging" and "styling" are two very separate disciplines. Related, but separate.
