Inspiration: Tree Houses

With our Small Cool contest going on this month, we got inspired by all the small beautiful homes. One thing lead to another and we started looking at tree houses, as they are usually pretty small. Some of them turned out to be much larger than we imagined with beautiful architectural details. We would love to have a tree house. There is something unreal about them. For us it will always be an unfulfilled childhood dream.

We came across a wonderful roundup of tree houses on the Krisatomic blog. Some of them are so incredible that it would take very little to convince us to live in one. We also like the more traditional design of these tree houses. The beautiful settings and the feeling of being one with nature only adds to the overall appeal of tree houses. If you have a large garden with mature trees, a tree house could become a guest house or a children playhouse.

this is great, but....what happens when the tree starts growing? we built a deck next to a tree and over 15 years it grew into the deck and we had to cut into it to give the tree room to grow.
