Beautiful Interiors: Converted Church

The incredible windows is what first caught our attention. The flood of natural light fills the amazing living room and kitchen. We absolutely love the hardwood floors and the original elements that were part of the church. The decor feels warm and comfortable and it works well with the majesty of the space. Check our more photos after the jump...

We found this beautiful conversion on the UK locations site called Light Locations. We posted previously about other gorgeous places featured on the website and there is a lot to look at. This Kenmont Gardens home is a feast for the eyes. Be sure to check out more photos on the website.

I love the decor, but living in a church leaves me a little cold. Churches seem cold and foreboding. It's probably why people don't have houses built like Churches.

Beautiful!

Some of that flooring looks like it was recycled from a gymnasium...

Now this is a church I could live in. Unlike the last one y'all posted this is inviting, beautiful and I could do the hibbidy dibbidy without feeling like I was going to hell.

They really did a great job on this conversion. Love it!

Check out the fun floors in the kitchen and the bedroom (on the website). Looks like they reused floors that had lines painted on them like you would in an indoor basketball court or something. Whimsical and great.

i love how this looks & could easily see myself living here! and since churches have been closing in droves due to the economy, maybe turning them into residential spaces is the answer.

This has been a dream of mine, In college I worked in a fabric showroom in the PDC ( west hollywood) called China Seas the woman that owned the company purchased an old church in the East Coast and converted it into an amazing home for she and her kids. It was true to the bones with livable modern touches.

These pictures are beautiful. Sadly with the economy these treasures get into the right hands. I have been lusting over an old police station in the Mission area in SF, its been sitting there for years and so much potential.

Yeah the last post about a house converted to a church was super creepy to me... this one you almost forget it was a church. It still has the nice structure but none of the stained glass windows and dark paint colors... very light and bright and beautiful. Almost looks more like a converted castle!

This is amazing...I've always dreamed of living in an old church. I like the flooring which some have mentioned looks like it may have been recycled from a gym - the various dots of colour in it remind me of the patterns light can make shining through a prism or stained glass window, but without the cheesiness.

Lafferteezy, I totally agree -- the only clue it was formerly a church is the choir loft. The rest looks like it took its cues from some amazing NYC warehouse conversion/loft.

Gorgeous. Those windows are breathtaking. The only thing that looks church-like is that lofted choir area. The wood paneling is a giveaway. I can't believe this is in the UK and not southern California. There's something kind of Mission-like about this building, not to mention the sun-drenched pictures.

And how does one go about finding old school and churches to buy for house renovations?

there's a beautiful church for sale in Paris, Ontario in the downtown core near the Grand River - asking price is about $750,000 Cdn.

it's listed on a commercial property index for the country - so i imagine you could find others on similar web sites.

The mirror in that next to last photo looks like a monstrance...the thing Catholics/Anglicans use to display the consecrated host. I was good till I saw that, then all my elementary schooling came flooding back. Beautiful but I couldn't live there.

I think this space is beautiful! Unlike some of the earlier commenters, I don't care so much for the decor, but I love the architecture. Maybe because I've never been a church-goer, it doesn't strike me as sacriligeous or creepy. I do agree that all that sun seems kind of suspect for England (I amused myself by imagining that they brought in giant lights for the photo shoot, placed just outside the windows!) - I would love to have one of these in California.
