bromelia, the empty before kitchen was hardly "better" than the cozier, more multi-function after kitchen.

The living room was definitely a HUGE change. It looks much better, but I can see how the styles are so drastically different that it might not appeal to everyone's tastes... but that doesn't make the before "better."

The After is lovely, but it doesn't look as cozy as the before. And I've never seen such a long room, my goodness.

What's with all the track-lighting?
Did someone's gay grandson named "Steve" inherit the place?

Woah bepsf, that "gay" remark was totally unnecessary.

I think that comment was actually a Steel Magnolias reference, chikiyuu. I'm hoping!

Anywho, in some (many?) instances, there is no feasible alternative to track lighting, and the lighting it affords invariably outweighs the cons of the track lighting itself. Personally, I see nothing wrong with it here, and I love the afters. This is a remarkably original interior. Which AIN'T easy to do anymore!

And I don't think this is a case of Before/After = Better or Worse.

It's just different, and (obviously) highly subjective.

Well, that's a huge change!

I think if the lighting were different, I would be more excited. The lighting's sort of dark and lounge-ish, when I think that the decor doesn't suggest that mood at all.

I love the rug with the flowers - anyone recognize it?

Thanks for posting rooms with wall-to-wall carpet! I am stuck with mine, and its nice to see that it can be used well.

HI THERE! Thank you for your comments. I was incredibly excited to see this in print! This project was really fun to work on and it turned out exactly how the client wanted it to...which is important to keep in mind. Photos only tell so much of the story, the other half is based on the clients needs and wishes, so even though you may not like particular elements of the project, the client really enjoys living in it. The rug is by Surya and the sofa/chair are by Outer Limits, which are available to the trade.
