Before and After: Record Cabinet from Cucumbersome

060209 cucumbersome before.jpgBritt of the DIY and design website Cucumbersome bought this shabby piece off of Craigslist for $40. With a little bit of elbow grease and a can of paint she was able to breath some new life into it, and ended up with a perfect cabinet we'd gladly make room for in our home. See the result after the jump...

060209 cucumbersome after.jpgWe never cease to be amazed at what a coat of paint can do to an old Craigslist find. Nice work, Britt! You can read more about this project here, from Cucumbersome.

NEVER underestimate the power of paint... Bravo! Well done! I like how she just kept it simple and let the architecture of the piece speak for itself...

why must everything be painted white? i really don't like this trend of painting everything white. in fact, im sick of it. to me, when something gets painted white in a an effort to "breathe new life" into it, it ends up looking like an old piece of furniture that was painted white-- no soul, no character and ultimately kind of cheesy. i liked it better before.

I like the weathered dark wood better too, but it might not work in every space. Even so, if this were mine and I wanted to paint it, I think a stronger color would work better due to the size and shape. The pale gray makes the cabinet sort of fade away against the wall.
