Board Games as Wall Art from Wisteria

12-11-boardgame.jpg

We feel slightly guilty that we're always ripping off ideas for DIY projects from places like Wisteria and VivaTerra, but this one is really calling out to be copied and personalized.

Reproductions of 19th-century American game boards are inlaid into wooden trays with handles, to be used mounted or in a tabletop arrangement.

The designs are two renditions each of Parchesse and Checkers, but we think this would be a great way to drag board games with sentimental value out of dusty storage and into the open.

Better yet, we'd like to see some of those funky 70s games with brighter colors and far-out designs to complement a more mod interior.

The boards can be purchased here separately for $59, or in a set of one each of four, for $219. At 24"square each, the set would make a commanding display across a big wall.

We're curious if you've already done something like this. Pictures?

This was done in an AT house tour a long time ago - gosh I wish I could remember which one. They had Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders and some other game boards above their couch against a pumpkin-colored wall. Gorgeous!

Yeah, that was our old apartment. here's the link to my wife's submission: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/artwork/gallery-of-readers-art-erin-016947

We paid homage in our new condo by putting up the Clue board, though the rest have gone into storage:
