apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Clusters of Mirrors

Everyone knows adding a mirror to a room can create the illusion of a larger space, but what about a whole group of mirrors? We say the more the merrier.

Group a set of mirrors closely together to create the feel of a larger space, or artfully arrange them further apart for a stylish (if not as illusory) effect.

Shown above:

  1. An arrangement of circular mirrors adds a "bubbly" point of interest to this room from Houzz.

  2. Apartment Therapy Boston featured a similar style using circular mirrors from CB2.

  3. This grouping (located in a closet-turned-office) is made up of mirrors gathered at local thrift stores which were then pulled together with a few coats of high gloss red paint.

  4. Break up a mirrored wall with moulding or hang smaller square mirrors evenly from ceiling down for a polished look and to create the illusion of more space. Via Best Designers

  5. ...Or try scrunching a bunch of square mirrors together for an easy (and inexpensive) headboard, like this one made with Ikea mirrored tiles from Sunset Magazine.

Are round beds making a comeback? I just saw one at Ikea the other day.

Cool! I like it. Photos 1 and 2 are my faves, not really feeling the cluster of red-framed mirrors or the headboard-style mirrors. Too vain.

I think I would like the light effects in a living area though.

The mirrored tile headboard is a great idea... but they're just slightly off, and that would drive me crazy.

I like mirrors in just about any configuration, but especially when added to a collection of framed photos and paintings.

the round bed is sequenced with the round mirroed wall theme i guess. it is looking good thou. But too much of the same shape is a little wierd i guess.

Good attempt!

Very pretty mirror work. But according to Vastu Shastra, a mirror that reflects a couple's bed does not bode well for their relationship. You can have a mirror in the room, but ideally it should not show a reflection of the bed.

For the uninitiated, google on Vastu or Vaastu Shastra to know more about it.

Like the red frames. Feel "meh" about the rest of them.
