apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Efficient Design

efficientdesign013009.jpgAs apartment dwellers, we're always looking for efficient home decor - because there's really no room for anything less than functional, right? Check out this gallery for products that are space saving, add extra storage, or just look good while making your life a little easier...

Surprisingly, a lot of the pieces are accessible in price, with some of our favorite sources for functional design (Ikea, West Elm, etc) represented. Are there any items around your house that you'd add to the list? What's the most functional and well designed piece of decor you own? See the slideshow here.

Naturally, the one I covet is "price upon request."

Where is the bowl set from?

It's encouraging to know that some of the best design ideas out there don't come with stratospheric price tags. Pick carefully and you can get gems at Ikea and West Elm -- and possibly those high designer items which don't warrant the sticker shock will slowly disappear.

I can't seem to navigate my way through to the bowls?? I want a set - please tell me where. I have a complete lack of space in my kitchen, for storage, and sets like that can make a huge difference for how my kitchen functions, overall. Fun colours too!

My comment is on the dining set - wouldn't the chairs be too low for the table for comfortable dining? Normal chairs sit much higher up.

The chair looks a little funky but to each their own.

I love the bowl set and the bed - both look so useful.

That IKEA set is very nice to look at but incredibly uncomfortable! The seat of the chair is nothing but wrong.

chilly - I followed the link called "here" to

http://www.pointclickhome.com/decorating_design/articles/efficient_design

From there, I clicked the noticeable blue button in the bottom right-hand corner to view the slide show of other efficient designs. There are 17 slides and the bowl set is the last one in this set. Alongside that image, a description was included and this information:

Joseph Joseph’s Nest 8-Piece Bowl Set, $58.

Then there was a link to the source, which also contains ordering information and other details. http://aplusrstore.com/product_detail.php?show=product&pid=342&cid=93

That was really tough, but I made it through. Hope that helps.

Those chairs and the table are $449 total or around that here in Canada. They are alright to sit on as they have a padded seat. I'm not sure if I would buy the set, perhaps if it came down another $100. It would be good for a small space though!

Thank you KTG! I am so impressed with your skillz. I really did not think there was a live link to the bowls. Thanks for your efforts; I will go and order those bowls now unless they are $200.

Thanks!!
