Okay, these pictures totally give me vertigo, and I would probably freak out if I had to walk down those stairs, but I'm pretty sure you'd find me underneath them, staring at them for hours..... I LOVE modern uses of stained glass!

Ugly, dated, hideous.

OK...these are kinda sweet. I just can't help but think that glass stairs = safety hazard.

The Apple Store here in SF has an all-glass staircase - and no safety issues.

Well, even though I didn't comment on the glass counter, I thought it was lovely. As a new student in the world of glass how can I not swoon over giant slabs of it?

These stairs are lovely. Especially with those colors paired against that honey wood.

They look pretty, but they also look dangerous.

Weirdly enough, I hate them in the first picture and love them in the second. Maybe it's the angle or vertigo or something.

I actually think this sort of thing would be really cool in a modern church. Sort of evokes the stained glass, but different and non-traditional.

I was very confused by the first picture until I read the description and realized it was stairs in the picture.

I really love the use of glass to add color and interest I think these stairs are great.

we didn't like the kitchen thingies, but we do love these stairs. (and even though we didn't grow up with artists as parents we became freelance artists anyway :-P )

I love art glass, but I agree: the previously posted kitchen counters were really unattractive. This staircase, however, is stunning.

I would sure hate to slip down those. They look great, but someone in OSHA is having a heart attack right now.

This is the second post I've read where something "has blown us away". My 8th grade English teacher would blow you away for continuing to be cliche and tedious in your speech. I hated her while I was in class, but I sure do have a large vocabulary now!

I hope your 8th grade English teacher would have also understood that as a teacher it was appropriate for her to correct your word choice, while as a commenter on a website, it is not.

That being said, these stairs are stunning. What an inspired use of the light in that space! In a place where solid treads would have taken away from that light, this art glass enhances it - well done.

OSHA stands for "Occupational Safety & Health Administration" - as such, they have absolutely nothing to do with safety standards or building codes for private homes.

These are pretty sweet! I don't know about having them in my own home, but I would love to see them somewhere else.

I think they are beautiful and especially when everything else is simple and clean-lined.

Tessa, by your own code of conduct, it would also then be inappropriate for you, as a website commenter, to 'correct' my correction, which negates your own thought. The best blogs are stimulating and interesting to read...using the same phrase ad nauseum defeats that purpose and shows a sense of laziness if not a minor vocabulary or lack of creative imagery through words. As a blog reader, I have a right to comment when the vernacular falls beneath par.

Amiencc -- If I was the one who used "blown away" in two different posts, I apologize for my laziness. If it was someone else who used it...well, as much as I try to read all the AT posts, I can't always keep track of all the other writers' commentary. I CAN say that, in this case, I definitely was blown away, and that I'd only use the expression if it was really the case. Honest.
