We'll admit, we're recent converts to pink. But though it hasn't been long, we've definitely fallen - and hard (notice exhibits A and B). We think this little vignette shows a great color combination that introduces pink in a soft, subtle way.

We are also really feeling the mauve-y color in there, which we've noticed all over the place lately. The neutrals keep it comfortable, while the coral-orange of the flowers adds a pop that still compliments the other colors well. It's all natural but still interesting. And anybody have a source for the piggy bank?

Piggy bank is from Target. Just saw it yesterday.

i know it's silly, but i hate pink. i can only tolerate it in an ironic, self-aware sort of way. any other color i can deal with, and could see incorporating into my space in some way, but not pink. i have to think about why that is.

le sacre: pink = girly, and a lot of us feel pretty conflicted about embracing girly things. For instance, it's okay for girls to play with trucks, but barbie? Not so much. It's too oppressive - a tool of the establishment (and don't forget the whispering - how could her mother buy her such a sexist toy?!?)!
I say try to embrace the pink! Though I'm still working on it, too!
Love that piggy bank.

I love pink, but remember the 80s too well to ever embrace mauve.

I love that soft whisper pink... it's a lot more peach-y than the icky baby pinks and barbie pinks. really lovely warm soft color.

The color pink was highly regarded by Rococco gentlemen:
Well, when the 18th century nobleman, Xavier de Maistre, of Savoy, was confined to his room for several months as a punishment for dueling, he wrote "A Journey Round My Room," treating the objects in his room -- his armchair, his desk, his bed, the pictures on his wall â as though they were monuments on the Grand Tour: "I had forgotten," he says, "when talking about my bed, to advise every man who can to have a pink and white bed; there is no question but that colors have an influence on our moods, and may cheer us up or sadden us depending on their shades. -- Pink and white are two colors given to pleasure and happiness. -- In assigning them to the rose, nature gave it the crown of the realm of Flora. -- And when the heavens wish to announce to the world the coming of a beautiful day, they color the clouds with that lovely hue at sunrise."

I'll take the cheap knock-off of Jonathan Adler's lustrous piggy and bank the change!
But back to the pink.... I've learned to embrace my enjoyment of certain shades of pink - like cherise, raspberry, magenta (in small doses) and sorry but I gotta say it: a soft rose. You know the colour I just can't bring myself to type?? That much overused shade by Laura Ashley circa 1982... dusty rose! *gasp* oh the shame. Don't judge.

I used to not like pink at all. I thought it was too girly but now I absolutely love it! Great tablescape above with pinks and orange.
