Inspiration: Glass Staircase

11-14-08glassstair.jpgThis is a staircase in a Berkeley home, designed by local architect Craig Steely. And yes, we do realize it's not an glass staircase, but what sticks out to you? The glass! Which is a material that was heavily used throughout the entire house.

I also like the safety the glass provides. Floating stairs with no railings or sides scare me.

Beautiful, yes. But I'm also for the "kid un-friendly" open staircase designs of Ray Kappe, et.al.

Beautiful, but you'd need an awful lot of Windex....

Windex: my thoughts exactly. With 2 kids under age 3 that look would last about 3 seconds.

It looks great but i don't care for so much GLASS on a stair...and I bet lots of cleaning! You'd need a maid...
