Inspiration: Green House Color Palette
Design Sponge

4.21.09 green house 9.jpgOne of our favorite design blogs, Design Sponge, is currently featuring the home of designer Barbara Rourke. We immediately took to the great use of green throughout her home, and it inspired us to put together a color palette based on her color choices.

With glowing amber accents and black and silver accessories, Barbara Rourke has created a beautiful atmosphere in her home that is at once earthy and contemporary. Rourke is one-third of design team All The Bells and Whistles, and Design Sponge does a wonderful sneak peek of her home here.

We love the different hues of green throughout her home as well as her great use of smoky and illuminated amber accents. There is a high-polish instilled into the otherwise earthy decor with black lacquer and silver accessories, keeping the aesthetic modern.

We jumped on Behr.com's ColorSmart paint selector to put together a palette of hues derived from Rourke's home. Here's what we came up with!

Left to Right: Behr Isle of Pines (480D-7), Exotic Honey (S-H-290), New Green (420B-6), Black Suede (S-H-790)

Green is my favorite color but it is so hard to work with. The use of greens in this home is pretty masterful (though I confess I am not so much a fan of the lime desk). Now if I could only find that perfect emerald something for my own place...

I love the color choices. I wish I had thought of using a dark teal instead of brown in my guest room now...it has the same effect but this feels fresh.
