We don't care if Hollywood Regency is on its way in or out, we will also love it and be able to draw inspiration from it. It's gorgeous and decadent. So, imagine our delight when we found these photos of designer Ken Fulk at the San Francisco 20th Century Art and Design Show & Sale.

The US Federal Reserve recently announced that this sort of extravagant decadence is officially now passe.

Wow! Not a huge fan of the Hollywood Regency look, but that Liza picture is something else.

Unabashed, over-the-top exuberance is always "in." For those who can pull it off. And those who can't.... well,... they can't.

What an elgant and soft design. Love it, love it, love it. Reminds me of my SF therapy office.. though not as luxurious. i think this is the url: therapy San Francisco

more like 80's cocaine fueled tackiness than hollywood glamour.

Okay, that is just too awesome. As a Liza fan, I would love to live there.

Sorry. This is like an old lady's Miami Beach apartment.

Thank God the Liza photo is great and large because it just captures your eye and imagination, so you don't have to gag on the rest of it. A drugged night at the "Limelight" in NYC back then. Mostly bad taste is a horrible thing.

I love the pic of young Liza.

Oh, no matter what you think of the style per se, it's just scrumptiously gorgeoso. If a friend of mine owned it, I'd be jonesing to visit all the time to wallow in it.

PS
What's up with that stunning [mirror? metal?) sideboard? Anybody know where that's from?

If the Fed doesn't kill Hollywood Regency, rooms like this will.

Anyone else notice the huge "Liza" emblazoned on the coffee table? Is this one of her living rooms or something? Egads. I hope so because if this is some fan's/stalker's place I'd be even more mortified.

oops, never mind, I see it's an installation. nevermiiiind...

This room makes me want to look around for the mirror and the credit card, and I don't even do drugs.
And here's what's on the stereo...

This really isn't Hollywood Regency - This is Studio 54 Glitz.
This is classic Hollywood Regency:

superfly, you are hysterical!

This is an extreme version of it, but I really love some touches of hollywood regency mixed with modern and then splashed with a little victoriana - but haven't quite figured out how to make it work.....but I love things like an iron bed, combined with crisp linens and mirrored side tables....white sofa with flokati rug and so on....hm. Anyway, nice pic to keep in mind, but a little over the top for me!

The funny thing is that Liza place was done by her friend Halston, with custom designed furniture, and, of course, Warhols everywhere.
