We stopped by the North Beach Festival this weekend, and while we're starting to get bored by the same booths that seem to be at every event in the city, we were smitten with the window display of this cake shop on Grant.
We stopped by the North Beach Festival this weekend, and while we're starting to get bored by the same booths that seem to be at every event in the city, we were smitten with the window display of this cake shop on Grant.
We know cakes are usually the territory of our sister site, The Kitchn, but we're less concerned with taste here and more interested in the choice of colors and overall design. Isn't it beautiful? Their website has a whole gallery of photos, but we really like the combination of sage and pink here. Could someone please turn this into fabric?
Looks like big Necco Wafers...

Is that a gnome cake hiding behind it?

I love window shopping I Dream of Cake. Each one is a work of art.
As for the booths at the North Beach Festival, I really enjoyed most of them. I bought a great reusable shopping bag, a hand dyed and silk screened shirt made from organic cotton and a lovely cup for pens on my desk made by Zulu artists in South Africa from colorful telephone wires reclaimed from landfills. With the exception of the Zulu made cup I traded directly with the people who made the items.
I haven't been to any of the other neighborhood festivals this year, so I have no perspective on the repetitiveness of the booths but I'm glad they came to my 'hood!

I would rather buy a cake because it is unbelievably delicious vs. "isn't it beautiful?"

Very Art Deco.
Seaside, I pretty much agree.
Except just once in my life I would like to have a beautiful cake.

With I Dream of Cake, you get both the looks and the taste. I had my wedding cake made here; chocolate cake with fresh organic rasberries. During the planning phase, we had a hard time deciding which flavor to go with because they were all so good!
