apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Inspiration: Nadia Tolstoy's Dining Room

6-3-inspiration.jpgWe first saw this photo in a book ages ago and just came upon it again on Emma's blog. And we like it as much as we did before. There's something whimsical about the circus-type lights. You wouldn't think they'd work, but together with the industrial pendants, the vintage poster, the huge table, the vintage chairs, the Jielde lamp, they do.

Makes us wish we lived in a funky old apartment where we could do something similar.

Love all the lighting, love the chairs...wish I could find some like that.

Who is that in the painting? It looks a bit like Norma Shearer.

Love it! The circus lights remind me of Pete's Candy Store in Williamsburg.

Apparently its just me, but I really think the bulbs and the way the light fixtures are installed over the table look silly and unfinished. Just my opinion.

No, it's not just you, Glam Girl.

I love the other aspects of the room, but I'm not digging the circus lights. It gives it a "we got these at Urban Outfitters and put them up for our beer bash" sort of feel.
