Inspiration: Twitter on Paper

5.29.09 twitter paper 1.jpgAs notorious "keepers of scraps of paper" who have been known to frame seemingly worthless doodles, quotes and images, we took to this new site immediately. An interesting take on the Twitter trend, these folks are putting "Tweets" on paper...

5.29.09 twitter paper 2.jpgWhile we, ourselves, are not on Twitter, we see some interesting aspects to publishing very abbreviated snippets of sentiment, events, actions, feelings and thoughts. Twitter on Paper is bringing this instantaneously broadcast medium to an analog format. They create paper editions of tweets. For no cost, they will send you a handwritten, one of a kind tweet of your choice in the mail.

Perhaps it is our affinity for print materials of all sorts, illustration and typography, and unexpected sources of art, but we love this idea. We have placed our order, and expect to receive our Twitter on Paper in about a week. This novel idea had taken a strange, punctuated and prolific form of communication and brought it back to its roots---not unlike a passed note in the 8th grade.

Yes, we could write down our thoughts on our own and put it up on the wall. But there is something intriguing about someone else--someone we don't know--giving life to a fleeting thought, creating their own textual interpretation of it, and sending it to us. For free! We will be framing ours, thank you very much...

Okay, Jessica, I'm an idiot who can't find Sam's Twitter feed. The twitterfon account he uses in an example is located in Palo Alto, whereas Sam is in NYC, no? So I'm confused. Help?
