apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Istanbul Apartment by Autoban

We've shown a few interiors from Istanbul-based design firm Autoban on here before, but we thought this apartment was worth another look or two (or ten)...

The pale lavender shades of the living room and bedroom feel so relaxing, and the mix of mid-century modern pieces with a chesterfield and some contemporary furnishings doesn't feel jarring in the least. Also, we love that that the radiators - often considered an eyesore - are all painted in brilliant gold. We think they look great, and why not make lemonade out of lemons, right? Check out local blog Four Walls and a Roof for a look at some of Autoban's projects, and for more photos of the apartment above, click here.

I like aspects of this but I don't see any cohesive theme.

I don't even know what to say. except that I'll be moving to Istanbul asap. How regal would it feel to actually live in a stunning place like this. I love, too how he infused old and new into the design. MARVELOUS!

Love the work of Autobahn!

That bed visually recalls the antique one owned by Ilse Crawford -- sort of a modern interpretation. Beautiful!

This is beautiful...especially the bedroom. But please, can we see at least ONE appartment that doesn't contain the ubiquitous Eames chair? It sort of ruined the whole living room for me. It was like shoving a square peg into a round hole...totally out of place.

The architecture of the apartment is stunning enough.
Then you add all that style....................
Incredible end result.

The bed *is* by Autoban I believe -- if you look closely at it, you will see woodgrain on the outside, quite unlike the Giorgetti bed. Plus, in the April issue of Living Etc., they feature the apartment of another of Autoban's partner's, and there is a clear picture of the bed (this time with lights attached to the outside wing panels), along with the sourcing.

The pendant light over the table in the first picture reminded me of a T phage. Talk about random.

Otherwise, I love this apartment too...
