We always look forward to the "sneak peeks" of designers' homes on Design*Sponge, but it's especially exciting when they feature San Franciscans. Recently, the blog showcased photographer Kimberley Austin's lovely light-drenched house on Potrero Hill, one of the city's sunniest neighborhoods. Her rooms are so inspiring in their spare, simple design, capitalizing on the home's natural flow of light and space. Plus, she uses some of our most beloved local resources! • Alameda Flea Market. Kimberley discovered these dining chairs at the flea market and had them powder-coated by West Coast Powder Coating. What a find!
• Grenouille. Next time you're down in SOMA, stop by this antiques shop, a great source for French country furnishings. Kimberley's beautiful farmhouse table and daybed both came from Grenouille (at 340 Bryant Street in San Francisco).
• McRoskey Matresses. This company has been making mattresses in San Francisco for over a hundred years. It's still owned by the McRoskey family, and the mattresses are still hand-crafted (and incredibly comfortable). (Also check out the amazing hospital bed, another choice salvage find!)

I really like the hospital bed (what's with the trend of really low beds?!) but I'd try to loose the feeling with warmer/not white and green bedding. It needs some colour, in my opinion.
Oh, and love the dining set!

I have a McRoskey mattress and LOVE it. The best night's sleep ever. Plus it's the only locally owned and made mattress company in the Bay Area. They delivered it and took my old mattress. Bliss.
