Very clever! It looks great! I'd like to see something on the uppers though. The painted tops look a bit slick for socked feet.

i'd love to do something similar with my stairs; however, my stairs are wood colored and I don't want to paint them. Is there a pattern that would go with that? hrm.

MoJohnson -
Check out Halfingers slippers - they have some with soft non-skid soles. They'd work great with wood treads
I wonder how dogs do on wood stairs though. That's one reason mine still have carpeting.

WOW! Thank you all for the lovely comments about my stairs.
MoJohnson- Yes they look pretty slick, and we were sort of worried about that, but there's actually more traction on them than you'd probably expect.
Jolly- I got my wallpaper at Wallpaperfromthe70s.com, and I gaurantee you could find something to match your stairs. They're a great company.

For painted stairs to not be so slick, simply sprinkle some sand (salt shaker works wonders for this job) when the paint is wet. Le voila, traction in a second!
I've done it a bunch of times and works like a charm.
