Low-Maintenance Salinas House

7-6-salinas house.jpg

Does anyone else find it ironic that this recent article, Great Way to Stay Warm: Vodka and Sunshine, was in the New York Times? After all, Larry Weingarten's low-maintenance house is in Salinas, which, last time we checked, is closer to San Francisco than New York. (Hello, Chronicle?)

Click here to read more about the inexpensively built, cost- and energy-efficient home. (We just wish it looked a bit more attractive.)

But it looks like a tenement. Depressing.

Sorry.

I've worked with the Weingartens on several projects over the last year and can testify that they exemplify the 'green lifestyle'. In their new home, aesthetics (while important) are trumped by ingenuity, efficiency, and a committment to leaving a soft footprint. Worthy accomplishments in my book!
