apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Maff Apartment by Queeste Architecten

2-29-maff1.jpg

This small attic apartment in the Netherlands reminds us of a boat. Just 30 square meters (approximately 323 square feet), its use of space is ingenious.

2-29-maff6.jpg

It has a kitchen, bathroom, dining area (for four), living and sleeping area (for two), and storage.

Rounded corners were used throughout, and four skylights add to the light and airy feel.

All surfaces are painted white, except for the floor, which is anthracite epoxy.

The bold orange sofa cushions are the only pop of color in this serene space.

The catch? It's a bed-and-breakfast apartment, without a full-time tenant.

It looks like a fun place to stay for a short vacation, but I'd go nuts permanently living in a place that small..unless I was actually ON a boat, of course.

What a great use of space... but its almost like something should be seperating the dining from the bed.

i'd love to see a floorplan.

These look like 3-D CAD renderings, not photographs -- so it's virtual rather than actual. That said, I would love to spend a few days here ... it's probably not a practical long-term dwelling place, but as a short term rental, I think it's genius.

Stunning, then, Kung fu grip! So stunning that it's a bit intimidating.

There's gotta be SOMEWHERE else that the owner could have found to live. There's just gotta be. I mean with the cost of renovating that closet of a place he could have found a roomier place (or at least a non-attic space) to occupy. Unless the owner is a little person, I cannot see the rationale behind that choice.

orangejuice,

Read the descriptions and you'd discover it's a bed and breakfast place... the "little person" jibe is strangely inappropriate, but that's the price of being clever!
