apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Maria Calderara's Home

Maria Calderara is an Italian fashion and jewelry designer. She utilizes a lot of Venetian glass in her magical necklaces and earrings. She is also known for using unconventional materials in her jewelry designs. One of our favorites is her limited edition paper mache collection. When we came across pictures of her home we were surprised how simple and calm it appeared. The 15th century building with its beautiful architectural details is full of natural light. Check out more photos after the jump...

Mostly beige interiors with a few touches of color feel very inviting and serene. Simple and uncluttered, her home could be a perfect retreat, a place to forget about the chaos of daily life. She has a nice variety of furniture. We love the low platform bed and the colorful shag rug in the middle of the room.

Dreamy. And I love how it feels Italian without using the typical Tuscan palette of warm earth tones.

What kind of bed is that? Is it handmade/custommade?
