More 3-D Wall Decor: Jessica's Collection Wall and
Pablo the Object Frame

objectmural4-40609.JPGA little while back we blogged about the amazing object murals Maira Kalman did for a school library project; it seemed like an idea that would translate beautifully to the home. Well, Jessica from The Window Ledge has fashioned an object mural of her own in her new apartment, using a collection of flea market finds and vintage sewing paraphernalia. We think it achieves the same combination of whimsy and style that make Kalman's library murals so charming. Click through for more of Jessica's wall, and for a new product designed to create a quickie version of this effect...

Jessica found these old spools in the drawer of a sewing table she bought at Goodwill. What a fabulous idea to display them! Her object mural, like Kalman's, tells a story, and it gives the wall an interesting layered texture.

If you want to display objects but aren't committed to affixing them to the wall, this new frame from Charles and Marie (found on Better Living Through Design) is a really fun idea. Pablo the Object Frame contains a folding shelf, allowing you to switch out the collection you choose to display depending on the season or your mood. Because it's more than just a shelf, the objects take on the importance of an artwork. Unfortunately the frame is sold out right now, but we think this could inspire a relatively easy DIY project. Has anyone tried something like it?
