apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

More Interiors with Robin's Egg Blue

Or Tiffany Blue, light blue, sky - whatever you prefer. By any name, we love how the vibrant hue always manages to brighten up a room. This recent post on the color reminded us of some of our favorite interiors in which it is used...

  1. Several touches of blue complement the wall of maps in this room by interior designer Steven Gambrel.
  2. A memorable interior from Domino (via sfgirlbybay). We find the shade always looks great when paired with a subtle green.
  3. Light blue takes on an icy, winter-y feel in this mainly white room from an Apartment Therapy House Call.
  4. This interior from Domino is what we first thought of when contemplating robin's egg blue interiors. Unfortunatelynow that the magazine is gone it's hard to find images from this particular home, but we found this snippet at Girl Meets Glamour.
  5. A cheerful blue bathroom from Kelly Osborne of See Jane Work at Design Public.

My office is this color and Robin's Egg Blue is the exact name of the paint (purchased at lowes).

I painted my bathroom this color and four years later I still totally love it. I actually just posted a pic of it on my blog today:

I LOVE that first room. The cool robins egg blue accents go nicely with the warm overlapping maps. I think this might be my inspiration for when I decide to change my bedroom decor.

I love Robins Egg Blue. My studio is painted in it and there are touches of it all over the house. It's so fun and fresh, and works with so many colour combinations.

I really like the pairing of the blue chairs with the wooden desk in the first picture. Can anyone tell me what the chairs are called?

It's hard not to like this color. It is fresh and cheerful and goes with pretty much everything!

The blue chairs were from DWR but I think they stopped making them.

I acquired a bunch of those nautical charts used for wallpaper. I don't glue paper to walls, but now I know what someone else could do with them!

Robin's Egg Blue -- loved it when I was 16 and I love it now. I guess I'll love it forever.

It's timeless for sure... I just started repainting some of my bedroom furniture in this color a couple months ago. I love the way it looks with wood, glass, and metal and it's a great color background for texture.

Until I read the comments and then scrolled back up to take a second look, I thought those walls were some sort of a marble paint treatment. (Sunday morning blond moment.) I really like the look. It is cool and clean. I'm not even fond of blue and I love all the shades used in these spaces.

I put a Tiffany box on the sill of a west facing window in my house and let it fade down to a color I liked. Then brought it in to my paint store and had the paint matched.

Robins egg blue IS a beautiful color, but I have been sooo over it for about 5 years now... while working as a design consultant in a custom window treatment / upholstery business, I saw so much robins egg blue (and every variant thereof) go into so many people's houses that when I was scrolling down the posts on Apartment Therapy just now, I had the sudden urge to claw out my eyes with a spoon.

More power to everyone who's still riding the robins egg bandwagon, but I fear that this color scheme will become the next ubiquitous 'mauve-seafoam-and-teal' interior faux pas (think Myrtle Beach condo)

I like the little table at the foot of the bed. Does anyone know where it's from?

#4 is so lovely. I love it. Like a swimming pool of comfort, surrounded by tiffany's boxes.

i didn't get that those were maps on the wall and thought that it was a badly pealed wallpaper used as a 'creatives' space. i (personally) do not like it, but the other room are great.
