apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Petite Maison
California Home + Design

10-27-petite1.jpgThis San Francisco condo isn't our normal cup of tea, but today the elegance and dark colors are really appealing to us. The homeowner enlisted the help of designer Georgina Rice in creating a "tiny jewel box" out of "a grim little box." The studio has a dressing room, soaking tub, crystal chandeliers, and walls painted such a dark green that they appear charcoal. Luxurious, yes -- but the surprise is that it's all in 500 square feet.

This is simply stunning - It's like a suite at the Plaza...

...and that Charcoal/Green is awesome - that may be my next living room color.

I don't favor classical design, but this is simply fantastic.

I like the overall european feel of this place, even if it is all to formal, like bepsf said, a sort of ritz like feel.
but the colours are lovely, the furniture beautiful. Just a bit stiff, no risk is taken.

Beautiful paint colors and overall feel. Definitely worth bookmarking.

If I ever own my space, I'm going to go wild with crown molding. That leopard print carpet is great too. Unexpected. Too fancy for day to day for me, but I'd love to spend a vacation there.

I quite like the understated colour scheme and the sense of glamour in this design, but I also think it would be tiresome to live with over time -- though it would make a fine a hotel suite. Isn't there something just a bit silly and rather excessive about tarting up a tiny city flat to look like Versailles?

In the second pic it looks like the apartment survived a sooty fire...

Beautiful, but ultimately too dark for me. Now a champagne peac and I am there.

This is no more excessive than a MCM flat that looks like a time capsule.

@ Seaside: I agree completely, and I find the MCM timecapsules chock full of 'famous' chairs equally tiresome.

This is most decidedly not my style. However, it is stunning and done very well.

This is so well done. It is not my taste although my dining room is a very similar color. I would be curious to know the per square foot price for this very small apartment. The molding alone is very ex-y.

The green is too dark for my taste, but it's still a very impressive space. If only all condos looked this good!
