Love the Seattle Ace for its design but HATE the noise factor... what does it say when there are earplugs next to your bed? Can't wait to check out Portland's Ace.

I had the opportunity to stay at the Ace in Portland two different times. Overall they were good experiences and reasonably priced compared to the chain hotels. I've stayed in several different rooms and they are all slightly different with a stripped down, minimal, slightly industrial, clean feel.

The crowd is younger and more relaxed and the Pearl district around it is a great benefit, very walkable, artsy, with bars and places to eat. Local Stumptown coffee downstairs is awesome, and I've heard Clyde Common the restaurant below is suppose to be yummy. I didn't get a chance to try it while I was there. If you get a chance to stay at the Ace, ask for the rooms not facing the street on the top floor, if you are sensitive to noise. Although it's not bad, the building is refurbished and you can hear people walking on the floors above and out on the street at night.

We stayed at the Portland Ace in August and had a corner room and I had to buy my own earplugs - super noisy at night. Otherwise fabulous, handy to the public transport, excellent Stumptown coffee and cool photobooth in the lobby.

I compare ACE to an art student's dorm. Sort of edgy, cool

It's interesting place to visit but after two nights stay at Inn@Northrupstation & then sleep at ACE, it's like stepping down from Ritz to Motel 6 (well not quite that bad:)

For a regular rates: The room we stayed in was tiny. There is no place to put the luggage. 2 is a crown in the room. We constantly bumped into one another. The window opens to a brick wall. You hear everything-Everything. And try to goto bathroom at night down the hall. And unfortunately we barged into someone accidentally because the bathrooom door wasn't locked.

The good part: It's cool, edgy. You will feel like you are back in school. Try hanging out in the lobby and check out the coffee next door...

Then sleep comfortably somewhere else though.
It's not worth the price of $90 compare to our kingsize bed, 2 TV/Game/Kitche/Breakfast/Street Car pass is $135 at Inn@Northrupstation.
