Roundup: Suitcases as Furniture

4.17.09 suitcase 1.jpgWe proudly use a vintage suitcase we found at a thrift store as a catchall for our scarves, gloves, and other cold-weather accessories. We love the idea of repurposing these classically designed travel bags as furniture and storage. Apartment Therapy has posted some favorite uses for vintage suitcases in the past here, but check out a few of our favorite suitcase finds of late…

Instructables has a great DIY for an ottoman out of a vintage suitcase. $5 at the thrift store and some lets will get you a stylish footrest that you can tailor to your taste.

Over at PoeticHome vintage suitcases have been repurposed into filing cabinets with an accordion file and some creativity.

Tracy Porter has a video about mounting a vintage suitcase to the wall for a fold out shelf that we love, especially for small spaces or guest rooms.

As a lover of all things vintage, I love this idea of showcasing vintage suitcases as furniture. I especially love the suitcase mounted on the wall as a shelf....what was once old is new again!

If only

A. I could afford that VanityCase (out of my range); and
B. it wasn't sold out...

It's pretty fab, though.
