We're particularly interested in the how-to for making floating bookshelves (a rarity since most floaters only support about 10 lbs) and the galvanized steel planters used as hanging cubbies. Any ideas you'd use?

I've lived with lots of built-in's in rentals, and I find they are usually really hard to use. I suppose custom built-in's are pretty lux. But overall, I prefer more modular furniture options that can adapt to life's changes.
I really like the open shelving ideas that let light move from room to room.
