apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

The Orb

7-31-08 the orb.jpgWe're always excited to see new ideas for prefabricated or modular homes as this niche of the design world has been turning out some amazingly innovative creations in the past few years. We like The Orb because it seems to combine two of our design loves: Airstream trailers and modern prefab dwellings...

Interior of the "Holiday Park Home"

The Orb is marketed for vacationing, office space, and corporate use. We think a mobile park filled with these instead of trailers would be kind of cool, and we're excited to see how the finished product compares to the mock-ups. Our one concern might be strong winds - if that baby started rolling you'd be in for one wild ride.

Oneformybaby --

Check out the website - they have versions (The Holiday Park Home) that sleep up to 7.

I'd love to live in a pod like these.

This definitely has the look of one of those Homes Of The Future from the '60s. It's neat to see this stuff finally being done...well, at least thought of as realistic.

I would love to have one as an art studio...

Agreed SexyAnteater, one as a studio would be amazing.

Does anyone know how much these are? I can't help but fall in love, but they look pricey.

I agree with oneformybaby. I'd like one with 2 bedrooms 2 baths. I love the open ends for viewing the outside.
