Two Design Ideas from Envelope A+D

052709 envelope ad 1.jpgLocal architecture and design firm Envelop A+D's projects always leave us buzzing with interest, and this San Francisco home on Washington Street is no exception. The house's traditional exterior gives way to a dramatically airy space indoors, creating a clean backdrop for the family's extensive art collection. Two aspects of the minimalist interior immediately caught our eye - one being the glass encased shelving shown above...

We like that it delineates the library/study from the living area, but maintains the sense of openness prevalent throughout the rest of the home.

The second design element we liked were the home's brightly painted closets. Yes, it's not exactly a new idea, but when paired with all white walls they add such a pop of interest (even the ever-so-subtle pink one below), that we had to share. You can see more images of this home and many more Envelope A+D projects at the firm's website.

I love the design of the study/library space. I especially love the glass entry wall and bleached wood shelves. However, as much as I admire the space, it also reminds me of a well-designed retail shop.

I'm with John. Love the library space and can see doing something similar with the glass bookcases, but I never would have guessed this was from a residence. It screams architectural firm resource library to me ... that may or may not be a bad thing.

I want a pale pink closet like that!

I painted the inside of my cabinet where I keep the garbage and dish soap glossy turquoise I have to say its quit fun to toss trash in that cabinet now.

The closets are pretty, but they're so obviously staged that they make me laugh.
