Vintage Beachwear as Decor
Completely Coastal

0605_swimsuits01.jpg

Swimwear was never this modest in our lifetime, yet these lovely framed versions make us feel so darn nostalgic. Over at beach design blog Completely Coastal, we're loving these stylin' displays of framed vintage swimsuits...

Up top is the Australia dining room of Beach Vintage blogger Simone Georgette, who purchased the suits on Ebay and the frames at IKEA. We're loving not only her trio of framed suits, but also her mismatched dining chairs and bold check tablecloth.

The other great beachwear display (above) is from Petrie Point Designs, which we've seen a little of over at Ohdeedoh. These are vintage pieces that are beautifully framed and available for purchase. Don't miss the Petrie Point Designs blog for more vintage beach inspiration.

I've seen this as hotel "art" at resorts in Fort Lauderdale...

What a great way to preserve and honor designs of days gone by.

Sorry, but the first picture is either creepy or the most depressingly wistful thing I've ever seen. (But I like the mismatched chairs).

The second one is okay if it's a retro bathing suit shop. Oh, I've just checked and it is, so okay. Oh wait, I've just seen that it's a retro pictures of bathing suit shop, in which case no, not so okay.

And I've just now seen that the shop of the second picture also sells stunned looking teddy bears trapped in frames, downright creepy :O

I like the chairs and the tablecloth. But those framed bathing suits evoke nothing for me.

The top photo and similar story ran last year guys...why does AT keep recycling stories?

AT, are my comments about this recycled story getting deleted? A similar story and the top photo ran last year: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/sf/inspiration/inspiration-framed-vintage-bathing-suits-055515

Framed bathing suits - vintage or not - is a bad idea!

I think it's cute. My mom has a couple of my grandmother's swimsuits from the fifties and sixties, and I think this would be a nice way to display them. However, I can think of no spot in either of our houses where they would actually look good.

These can be highly collectible depending on the designer and condition.
I find the frames & matting in the first photo to be underwhelming. Something a bit more interesting and textured is better suited.

Forgive me father for I have punned.

Thanks for featuring my post! This was so much fun to put together. And I think it's great that we might be seeing some vintage on the beach this summer.
