I have the article on this place in an old Metropolitan Home Mag from years ago. The swiveling windows are genius but the whole house was soooo staged and contrived. Even these pictures make it look like it's sterile enough for open heart surgery on that big ass wood table.

interestingly, seeing what looked to me to be a T L Lange painting by the swinging door in the first photo, led me do a bit of research to make SURE it was a TL Lange painting (it is). i then found that the "Winn" of the Winn condominium is the Larry Winn who founded Grand Image (in Seattle) and was a friend of TL Lange's (and avid collector of his work) before TL's death at 36. turns out the Winn's have left this condo and now live in a rather different space in Seattle that can be seen in this article (or maybe, since this article is from 2004, they've moved yet again):

forgive my rambling, as this entire note was only because the painting intrigued me. i love TL's work, and i wish so he were still alive and working. I hope your spirit is at rest now, TL.

PS: i suppose the Winn condo could be considered by some to be a bit on the 'sterile' side, but i love it all the same, and if it were mine, i could easily warm it up. i will say i think Mr. Winn's art collection looked more 'grand' on the walls of this condo than it does in the more stately, subdued environment of the 30s house. still, it's lovely art, and it's great on any walls....

Re: Staged and Contrived

Open the pages of any magazine and ALL the photos are staged and contrived - You think that those models came in off the street dressed like that? You think that those folks houses don't have mail on the counter, Post-Its on the desk and dust bunnies in the corners?

This space and the details in the design are simply awesome.

I'm LOVING the windows

I think this is simply gorgeous. Not my personal style but I absolutely love it nonetheless.

I went to the E. Cobb website and looked at all the pictures. There are elements I love (the huge table; the floating black stairs; the chandeliers), but to me, it looks like the decorator put together the idea of a look, but it turned out without any heart.

I like the slatted screen, but I think it jars awkwardly with some other elements, both in color and busy-ness. For example, the chandeliers messily disappear against it. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Check out www.unicahome.com if you want to see many cool but expensive room dividers. I love the Molo paper soft wall. Light weight, portable (but a bit pricey) it would work great in my home. Hey AT how about giving one of these away?

I love this space. Does anyone know where I can find a coffee table like the one here? The one with the tree logs stuck together, but a flat top surface? I haven't seen anything like this.

You are a bright one, Bepsf. I meant it was moe staged than Usual. It looks like it has no soul or personality.
