Inspiration: Swedish Kitchens

03.05.09_SwedishKitchen_01.jpgWe have spotted these gorgeous kitchens on a Swedish real estate website. So many of the featured homes for sale have incredible architectural details of old buildings and are beautifully remodeled. The presentation of the apartments on the website is also very appealing. We have been especially inspired by the kitchen designs. Check out more photos after the jump...

This one is so modern and simple. We love the streamlined design of the cabinets and the minimal hardware. The white glossy countertops with the stainless steel double sink, just enhance the modern look.

This one is more classic with the farmhouse sink, black and white checkered flooring and gorgeous flower wallpaper. Too many patterns used in one space can get busy, but it seems to work quite well in this kitchen.

The combination of the modern cabinets, beautiful marble backsplash, country style dining table seems to work perfectly in this home. But the chandelier is what really makes this kitchen come together. The arch window and the wood flooring complete this gorgeous set up.

We are usually drawn to more modern design in a kitchen, but these cabinets are beautiful with the simple circular hardware. The build-in storage, above the cabinets, is a great use of high ceilings in a small kitchen.

Check out more of the beautiful Swedish apartments on the Lagerlings website. Also all of these are for sale, if you are interested in buying an apartment in Sweden.

Can anyone tell me where to purchase the wallpaper shown in kitchen #2? Please say it's available over the internet!

I do love the Swedes for their good hygiene, simple designs with a splash of fun..while keeping it sensible.

Yes a generalization but for the most part especially after working for a Swedish company I have found this to be true.

#2 & #3 are great.

Cupcakecemetery -

The wallpaper is a Josef Frank design, available through Svenkst Tenn. Here's a link:

What?! I think they are all a little ugly. I only sort of kind of maybe like the 3rd one (the chandelier one) but it doesn't look fun to cook in at all.

Great inspiration! Much more attainable than the Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous stuff AT has been featuring lately...

I don't really get the Swedish design craze. They have been doing the same thing for 40 years. It's time to move on.

I like that Europeans in general seem to have few qualms about putting modern kitchens and furniture in centuries-old homes.

I LOVE that table in the modern white kitchen. It's a bit long for my new place, but the texture on it is just what I'm looking for now that I'm looking for a new table.

Contrary to what a poster wrote a few lines above, I think the Swedes are beginning to move past their traditional simple-thrifty-chic ethic and head into more adventurous style territory: http://is.gd/m53q
