simple change, dramatic result. But changing the position of the chair helped, too.

Anyone have suggestions on how to hide a cord from a pendant lamp than runs along the wall. I have the knappa lamp, with a white cord running down a light green painted wall. Should I paint the cord?

Thanks!

Where is the coffee table from?

Good question from Robbybird- Maybe it would work to carefully tape down the cord in a nice straight line then paint over the tape to match the wall. Maybe a wide paper packing tape that will accept the paint. The somewhat visible tape would look better than the cord. I hate cords showing anywhere and there aren't any prefab solutions I know of. Hope for more suggestions here???

Looks much better!

The coffee table looks like Target/Thomas O'Brien. Target doesn't sell it anymore.: http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/thomas-obrien-modern-round-low-table

very nice! it looks great! what a simple improvement. :)

robbybird- i'm not sure what it's called but they sell this tubing (it may be made of aluminum?) that's thin and rectangular in shape. i'm pretty certain that they sell it in hardware stores...you should check something like that out because it would look nicer when painted than a painted cord would!

I like both the before and the after ;-)

hey Erin, I've seen something like what you're describing, but I've seen it in white plastic, you should be able to find it at your nearest Home Depot, it's like a plastic stripe designed precisely to cover cords on walls.

btw guys, I've been a devote fan of AT for weeks but I've finally taken the courage to post here :-)

I know I'm in the minority, but I liked the "before" better. The three lights seem to be heavily intruding on the doorway and curtain. With the artwork and patterned fabric, I thought the white light added texture and was less fussy.

The after shot anchors the drape to the room. The before shot was interesting but less cohesive visually. When you check carefully, the placements of the new lamps will not obstruct the doorway since they take less space than the vases on the floor.

I love the room, but I do have one little question. Is the coffee table for the convenience of a person sitting in the chair, on the sofa, or both? It seems to be too far away for anyone to reach it.

I'd love it if someone could tell me about that rug. Is it shag or popcorn looped or something else?

I don't know who the rug is supposed to reach, but that looks like a rug i just got for my bedroom at Ikea. I think its called Vitten.

Wow... I just purchased the light yello version of that lamp at Ikea - and I love it. Also hung it in a corner. I actually bought two of them, thinking of doing the same grouping type of thing, but one seemed to fit the space much better. I was inordinately proud of myself for showing some restraint (and for returning the lamp in a timely manner). Now I'm re-thinking my decision.. hmmm...

I also have the fabric - it's from Ikea as well, but I can't remember the name. We covered a 50s style daybed in it; it made all the difference in the world!

i love that thomas o'brien coffee table! i wish i picked it up before, its the perfect combo of wood and white!

cute room!

can anyone source the rug? i need a shag (not flokati) in at least a 5x8 thats NOT over $300!

I like the before better, only because the three lamps seem a bit crowded in the corner. I'd like them more if they were just pushed a bit farther out...

to Robbybird- I've taped over cords and then painted the tape to match the wall. It really helps camouflage them. Its a quick fix that many galleries use.

What a surprise! Thanks everyone.

The placement of those 3 shades was a struggle, I'm still not 100% with the arrangement but I am living with it.

The before pendant was just not providing enough light.

The curtain in the doorway is from ikea fabric, it is a closet and we only enter on the left side so the lights are not in the way at all.

The coffee table is the Thomas O'Brien round one, and it's far enough away from the chair to allow for rocking and feet to be put up on it, and my husband works from home and it's his desk, so he sits between the couch and it.

The rug was from target, the still carry them, it was $80, it doesn't shed and hides stains like you wouldn't believe.

The cords were wrangled with zipties and those nail in hooks you can get at ikea.

and the rocking chair was a found item at my old building, someone tossed it.

The colors of the new shades was tough too I really wanted blues and greens but the neutrals won out, they go with the couch, rug and curtain and don't compete with the other side of the room.

The large one is from Ikea a few years ago and the two smaller ones are a picture I took on my honeymoon and a piece of art we found on our honeymoon.
