If you ever thought that most chandeliers are too feminine, you might find this one more interesting. Ward Van Gemert is a a Dutch product designer who uses parts from deconstructed chandeliers and creates a monochromatic modern version. They come in three colors – gold, black and white.

His new designs were once the unwanted brass chandeliers that you can find at garage sales or flea markets. Ward uses the electrical wires as the base element for the new construction. We love the idea of reusing an old and outdated object and giving it a new life. It is not only green, but also very creative. As Ward says "I want to make every day objects special / noticed again. An ordinary, often overlooked, product is used to make a new design."

I love the concept, but I think with a little more work it could be absolutely outstanding. If they can somehow get the pieces to look like they are "floating", perhaps by using more translucent wiring, it would be a knockout.
all in all, I think it is a very clever idea.

I like the black one. I agree with jpriley75 though, if it looked more floating, it would be so cool.

Like it very much and I agree that most chandeliers even the modern ones look femmy or over worked and over designed. This one is airy and non committed to gender.

It kinda looks like a disjointed, upside down spider.
I like the white one though.

First off, I kind of think of chandeliers as formal, not feminine -- and these are neither.
Second, these seem to be approaching something interesting but not quite getting there. Maybe color? I don't know, they just fall short somehow to me...
