Hi-Light Floor Lamp from PBteen

6-2-hilightlamp.jpgWhile we tend to like big drum shades on our floor lamps, sometimes you just don't have the space. So we'll go for the next best thing - an articulated desk lamp on steroids.

The best part? The Hi-Light Floor Lamp is currently on sale (in white) for $79.99 from PBteen.

I could see the silver or black next to a reading chair...
...but the pink and blue, not so much.

I'm with bepsf on this one...the black and silver ones are nice, but the pink and blue are too girly for me.

Restoration Hardware has a version of this lamp, which seems nicer in terms of proportion and details.
Here is the Atelier Task Floor Lamp:

PBTeen lamp now sold out.

But I don't get why people would want a floor lamp (Restoration Hardware's is the same) which is limited to only 60 watts.....

Because, GalleryGal, the task light focuses only on the one area you are concerned with. There's a difference between having a light like the one above angled to highlight the pages of a book that you are reading, and a bare bulb of the same wattage in a room.

I'm pretty sure that these PB lamps aren't used for surgery, nor do they cost $8,500.00 for 10,000 ft candles per head:

It would be good to realize that watts ≠ brightness. Watts = energy consumption. Lumens = brightness.
http://www.ledtronics.com/pages/tech4.htm

This 52 watt Phillips puts out 700 lumens initially:

And this 60 watt clear bulb puts out 520 lumens:

There's a big difference in prices and expected life too:

All 60 watt bulbs are NOT the same.

Oops, the "doesn't equal" symbol doesn't work here.

That is supposed to be
"watts doesn't equal brightness"

Yeah, drum shades. Best of all is the way in "old" Vienna, many apartments have great big old drum shades hanging over dining room tables. . . .
