How To: Make a Glittering Lightscape

11-21-blueprint.jpg

Glow and Behold. We first saw this sparkling lightscape last year in the now-defunct Blueprint. It's a lovely neutral and crystalline color palette. Click below for details on how to do this project using Christmas lights and canvas...

• Paint a stretched canvas from an art-supply store in your desired color.
• Plot out your design in pencil on the back, keeping dots a half-inch apart.
• Gently press an awl through each dot in your design to make a hole slightly smaller than the diameter of the bulb.
• Press a bulb into each hole; secure each with craft clue.

I dont totally understand. Where does the light actually come from? And are the "bulbs" attached to anything-- or are they just the glass bit? Are these christmas light bulbs?

I saw a project like this a few years ago, though I can't remember where -- it would make a great headboard with built-in reading lights.

I miss Blueprint, but I don't miss anything that involves Christmas lights.

What's a "crystalline color palette" ?

This was posted over a year ago, at least. I saved the photo in my inspiration folders. I never made one, though.

Actually, AT, I apologize...that was from the ourbedrooms community over in livejournal land. It was over a year ago, though.

This would be cute in a nursery - you could paint the canvas midnight blue (or something) and then use different sized and colored lights to create a mini-cosmos.

My husband is a huge space/science buff and I'm a big literature buff and if we have a son I can see this being a great way to merge Le Petit Prince and NASA :-)
