Look! Christina's DIY Lamp

11-17-christina.jpgAT:SF reader Christina wrote in to show us her DIY lamp. She was inspired by our post, How To: Make a Glittering Lightscape. She says, Well, it's more a "lightsource" than a lamp. But i found the DIY project idea on AT so I thought i'd share!...

...I bought the Xmas lights at ikea and I already had the canvas. I penciled the backside with the pattern I wanted and then made holes with a screw. The lamp isn't perfect, as there were many left-over bulbs and I didn't quite know what to do with them. I didn't want them coming down the wall so I just kind of randomly shoved them into the canvas. Still thinking about how to solve this problem, but in the mean time it's a great, soft source of lighting. Cost me about 30 bucks and two hours of a Sunday-- totally worth it.

Thanks, Christina!

LOL, 'randomly shoved' -- you made a random piece of art, it's great and I want to try it myself.

This is exactly what I've been planning to do in my bathroom as a "night light" sort of thing, made with acrylic and twinkle lights. Very pretty!

These always look so cool. For some reason, I'm worried it won't look as awesome if *I* try it.

I love how it is treated as just another piece of art hanging on the wall...and yet it emits quite a lot of light (enough for reading?).

I love this!! My husband makes custom lighting and when I showed him a "lightbulb" went off in his head...

Very cute! If only you could get Xmas lights that come with their own little transformer so you don't even have to worry about cords!
