apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Patrick Articulating Sconce

patrick5-15.jpgThe Patrick Articulating Sconce could fit into many places. It would work equally well next to a bed, over a desk, or by a reading chair. And its simplicity means it would look great in a modern, traditional, or just plain old eclectic apartment.

In really small spaces, with its articulating arm and swiveling head, it could even serve two functions. Push it this way and it's great for bedside reading, push it that way and it helps illuminate your home office. Yes, we've lived in apartments that small.

Pottery Barn sells it for $149.

40W? You'll go blind reading by this light. It's the same problem with almost all the Pottery Barn lamps, the wattage is always so low. Restoration Hardware's lamps all have higher wattage for the same prize.

I think, since this is a task sconce, the wattage assumption is that you position the light source very close to what you are reading. But in my cave-like (by choice)apartment, I'd have to put even the 40W on a dimmer!!!

Closest RH counterpart I could find was an articulated desk lamp, the Atelier, with 60W max but at $249.

RH's STUNNING Counterpoise Task Table Lamp in Polished Nickel (seen it in the store, and dear GOD it is gorgeous and built like a TANK) is, sadly, $499. For the table lamp!! The floor lamp version is $699!! That takes a 35W Halogen bulb.
