San Francisco-based Transparent House had an idea: To integrate an iconic object -- such as a vintage Leica -- into modern-day life while maintaining the qualities of art and function. Their Perspektiva Lamp uses the camera as a lighting source.

I think the semantics of this are a bit warped.

I can't believe they are destroying beautiful old cameras for lighting purposes. Blech!

I would much rather have the camera!

I think this is cool for cameras that don't work anymore, which I'm hoping is what happened to these cameras. Once they're not light tight, they won't work, but they can work as lighting!

Nice idea. The tripod is too bulky, though. I would love a real Leica for use as a camera.

That is a silly idea for a lamp! But I love the chairs in the first and third pictures.

Silly!
Do you guys know what an Old Leica Costs?
That is going to be One Expensive set of lamps, I would rather buy some really nice lamps that dont look silly after a month or two.

Love the chairs and the chess set. They have such nice clean lines.

Personally, I like the lamp here a lot more: it's the same idea, but without the camera.
